This weekend several schools held their proms. And, Satellite High was one of them. 

Oh, how time seems to get away from us. My 17 year old, Stephanie headed off to dance the night away with her date, Tyler and to spend quality time with her friends.

High school is one of the best times in their lives.  They are going out, meeting new people, learning and growing into their own personalities. They are seizing the moments and enjoying life to the fullest.

Funny, I just received an invitation for my 30 year high school class reunion.  Incredible.

So, how did we get here so quickly?  It has happened in the blink of an eye.  It never ceases to amaze me how quickly time just sneaks away from us.

They are absolutely having the time of their lives...

The Brevard County Farmers Market is open every Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM inside of Wickham Park in Melbourne Florida.   It is co sponsored by the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Departments.

Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22, 2010.  Earth friendly products will be offered including reusuable shopping bags.  Shoppers are reminded to support local farmers in our community.

Shoppers can find breads, cheese, cakes, cookies and pies.  They can find locally grown fruits and vegetables, organic eggs and grass fed beef. They will also be delighted with the assortment of dog and horse foods, flowers, soaps, lotions and so much more.

This is an increase of 16.19% from March 2009 of 593 new listings.

There were 292 sold listings.

This is a decrease of 4.52% from March 2009 of $153,174.

There is something unique about the life of a Realtor®. 

Often times it is difficult to find a happy balance between our work lives and our home lives.

We can't control the flow of customers coming in at any given time or the number of phone calls coming in during a specific month. Some months we have more business than we can possibly handle, and others it's a bit more laid back and quiet.

When we are busy, there are no regular hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

There are no 40 hour work weeks.

There are no one hour lunch breaks.  Or 15 minute coffee breaks.

Often our appointments are after hours and on weekends, away from our families. 

We work around others people's schedules.

When we're busy, often we work 14 to 15 hour days, and sometimes more.

We can go for several weeks without a day off.

So, when we are swamped, we have to balance out the workload.

The Art of Sand is a month long event held in Cape Canaveral FL.  There will be sand sculptors from across the globe. They will build monumental creations out of only sand and water. If you have never experienced an event like this, it is truly a sight to see.

The artists come from Canada, Russia, Italy, Japan the Netherlands and the US.  They are given 80 tons of sand to build 15 to 30 foot monuments.   The sand creations are on display from April 2 through May 1.

The event will be held at the Radisson at the Port, 8701 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral.  The sand creations can be found at A1A and the Beachline.

Relay For Life is being held on Saturday April 10, 2010 at 2:00.  It will be at the Satellite High School, Satellite Beach, FL football stadium.  It is an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society to bring communities together in the fight against cancer.  The guests of honor are cancer survivors.  Teams camp out on the field for 18 hours. Each team always has a member on the track, walking or running, moving around the track, as cancer never sleeps.

Survivors walk the track and are honored for their strength, courage and determination in overcoming the disease. They are an inspiration to others.

The event raises money through different types of fundraising, all in the hopes of finding a cure against cancer.

The National Flood Insurance program expired on March 28, 2010 and Congress is out on recess. This is putting some Florida homebuyers that are trying to close on a home in a floodplain zone in quite a dilemma right now.

When a buyer is purchasing a house located in FEMAs, (Federal Emergency Management Agency) flood zone, the mortgage lender makes it a stipulation to the buyer to obtain a separate flood insurance policy.  This is in addition to a regular homeowners insurance policy.  If the buyer is unable to obtain the policy, then the lender most likely will not agree to make the mortgage loan, and the buyer will not be able to close on the house.

Congress is out until April 12.

Realtors are pushing for the program to be renewed. 

Homes are currently left unprotected because of the expiration.  If the program isn't reinstated it could cripple home sales in floodplain areas. 

The hope is that Congress puts this important issue at the top of their list of things to do when they return to Washington.
