Kennedy Space Center
The Space Shuttle Endeavour's 25th and final mission was scheduled for today at 3:47 Eastern time.
We just got word that the launch has been scrubbed for today. Apparently, a power line on the themostat to the auxiliary power supply unit #1 failed. The concern was that the fuel could freeze upon reentry. And, there was also a short to a switch box.
There was a 70% chance of good weather, after some evening thunderstorms last night. We actually thought there was the possibility the launch may not go because of the weather.
It is estimated more than 500,000 visitors were headed to Brevard County to see this final mission. This is quite a disappointment for so many, especially those that traveled a long distance to see this final Endeavour launch.
The Endeavour was headed to the International Space Station for 2 weeks to deliver some space parts.
Right now we are hearing that a new launch attempt may not be until Monday.
For more information on the Endeavour, see the video here.
UPDATE: It is now Sunday, and the news is that the launch has been scrubbed for Monday, also.
