Enjoying the Beginning of Summer at Brevard County Beaches

Yesterday, was the first day of Summer and it proved to be a beautiful one.  Melbourne's temperatures reached 96 degrees, with humidity figured in, it was a sweltering 109 degrees. There was about 50% humidity.

We had the perfect solution, as did a few other people.  We headed for Spessard Holland in South Melbourne beach.

It was quite warm, but the ocean water was cool and refreshing.

We spent a good bit of time out in the water, as my daughters are learning to surf.

We also did some fishing, but unfortunately caught nothing.

It was one of those days where you had to be really careful not to get fried from the sun, as there was a bit of a haze in the sky.

This is when people inadvertently get too much sun, without realizing it.

When we get these hot, humid temperatures it so important to get plently of fluids, to remain hydrated.

Gorgeous photos, Sandy.  Thank you for sharing.  It's been a little chilly here in Southern California.  But, we are starting to warm up.  So, a trip to the beach may be in our future soon, too.

Heather, It was a beautiful day, but sweltering hot.  We were fine while we stayed in the water. Gosh, chilly there in S. California?  Good to hear that it's warming up there.

Sandy, What beautiful beaches!  I miss Sunny Florida :)  We have had one of the coolest Spring times on record (as well as rainy ones) and could use some hot, humid weather and an uncrowded beach.

Sandy, Florida has such beautiful beaches. The sand is so perfect and fine. You can't find that sand on the west coast or Hawaii.

That surf looks mighty inviting Sandy. Great time of year for the beach. Heard Vero Beach had record high temperatures.

Hi SS,

Oh, how I do miss the ocean. Since moving to NC, I think I was only back to the beach once. When I lived in NY I went many times every summer. The beaches were very near.

Carole, Wow, cool Spring weather there. We had quite the rainy weather here for a couple of weeks - we needed it so much.

Hi Paul, Really, I haven't been to Hawaii before. But, it's funny, in my experience the beaches on the West Coast of Florida have whiter sand than ours and the water is typically clearer than ours too. Very interesting.

Hi Gary, Oh, it was. We were 2 degrees away from record highs.

Caren, It was a very, very warm day.  The humidity was thick. But the water was gorgeous.

HI TO, I would hate living away from the beach, it is so serene and beautiful.  Come on down and stay sometime.

Hi Sandy, your beaches are so beautiful, and at that temperature and that humidity I would have to live in the water, LOL!  You know I am a cooler weather girl, 109 degrees?? "that's a beach" :-)

Sandy, the beaches are great looking because they don't look too crowded!

Hi Mary, It was definitely a day that we had to spend most of the time in the water, It was hot!

Hi Pat, We go down to South Melbourne Beach, where the beaches are uncrowded. A bit further north, they are quite packed.  We try to stay away from the crowds.

HI TOTO, I think you're a step ahead of me, on my next post -you're too quick for me!
