You Can't Change Mother Nature

It's raining again this afternoon.  It probably means that the Shuttle Endeavour Mission up to the Kibo Space Lab will be scrubbed again this evening, as it has been for the past 2 evenings.

Today was gorgeous, the sun was high in the clear blue sky. So pretty.  But, we're in the middle of summer when we get those late afternoon thunderstorms which last for an hour or two. They are pretty typical to our area of Florida.

A couple of months ago we were praying for rain, as we were concerned about drought conditions. And, finally we got 3 straight days of non - stop rain.  It was badly needed.

Thank you Mother Nature

Thank you Mother Nature

Thank you Mother Nature

I wonder if it the afternoon thunderstorms slow the real estate market down.  Do less buyers want to go out looking when it's pouring rain?  We've had some pretty heavy thunder and lightning accompanying these rains. Many people look at houses after work, but do they cancel their appointments because of the wet weather. Some do.

I think taking buyers out to look at property while it's raining can tell a customer alot about a house. They can find where the problem areas are with standing water and they can find out if the house itself has water issues.

With all the rain that we've now had, the grass is greener, the plants are thriving and our fire risk is down.

I love those summer afternoon storms. It is amazing how quickly the weather can change. Great pictures!

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

 Best regards.

Hi Sandy, Those look like some pretty ominous clouds. We have been getting quite a few afternoon thunderstorms here too, and you're right about the green grass!  I hope the clouds will part and the shuttle will launch, but we'll have to wait and see what Mother Nature has in mind.

I spend three months in Miami some years ago.

It rained every day at 5:00 p.m. just like clockwork.

I know the storms can be destructive and disruptive....but I love them. We very rarely get them here. But they are so nice and refreshing.

Sandy,

I like buyers who cancel when it snows...but the rain is okay as long as there are no tornados in the area...

Sandy, you are so right about a rainy day being a good time to see water issues for a home! The buyers can really see what they are getting! Here in Ohio we get as much rain as you do sun and the basements are the place we go to look for water issues. I know y'all don't know about basements! LOL!

Sandy,

Reminds me when I use to spend much time in Ocala.  The rains would come like clock work.

Michael, It's funny, but these storms really do seem to come out of nowhere.  The past few years they seem more intense than usual.

Wendy, I remember having an out of town client in.  They had planned their trip a couple of months prior.  We were out looking at houses a day and a half before a hurricane was due.  They bought one.

Mary, We have had some severe storms come through.  I remember when it used to be a light afternoon thunderstorm for 30 minutes, then it was gone.

Lenn, You're right, you can pretty much set your clock by what time the rain is going to start.

Karen, They are refreshing and they brighten up everything.

Hi Lou, Thanks for updating us on your neck of the woods.  I love Boca -it's so beautiful.

Paul, You just don't know, do you, how it's going to be?

Hi Ann, Your comment made me chuckle. It doesn't snow here, so we never even think of that here.  I don't think I would want to show houses in heavy snow, either.

Caren, You're right, we don't have basements here.  I bet that showing houses in the rain there would be great, to check for water problems there. Again, something I never would have thought about.

Richard, You're right - they sure do!

Sandy,

Snow is not too bad but ICE is killer!

Maybe we should move NASA to Concord, NC! We've been on water restrictions for the longest time, so rain shouldn't be much of an issue.

Hi Ann, I can't imagine showing houses in snow or ice.  That would be terrible.

Cheryl, It's funny you say that, because we had a dry spell for several months and had been absolutely praying for rain, and then we got it.

Yvette and Dennis, That's for sure, it wouldn't be summer in Florida without the showers.

Hey Pat, You're right about that.  Florida weather can really change quickly without realizing it.

Sandy,

It is really tough when the home is cold.  I love snow...just not driving in it.;-)
