Forbes has determined that these metro areas boast gains in real estate sales over 2008:
1. Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
2. Lincoln, Nebraska
3. Colorado Springs, Colorado
4. Salem, Oregon
5. San Luis Obispo, California
6. Bremerton, Washington
7. Denver, Colorado
8. Redding, California
9. Santa Barbara, California.
10. San Jose, California
It's not surprising that 4 of these areas are located in California. In placing the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area at the top of the list, this certainly covers a very large portion of South Florida.

Hi Sandy
Thanks for the information and the update.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Very glad to see some of the areas hardest hit on the recovery list. We have been fortunate in Oklahoma.
Sandy...inch by inch we are getting there. My area, Houston TX has been very fortunate so hopefully you will be the one to gain from the good news in your area
Sandy, good news for you....I see much happening here in NE Ohio although we didn't make the list!
Hi Sandy, A good list and indicator for you in south Florida! I was happy to see Colorado on this list, too. Really, I think things are turning around for a good part of the country.
Hi Lou, Good news for us here in Florida. Sales are up. We love to hear that!
Lori, I would anticipate that anything has to probably be better than the years past, as far as sales. You're absolutely correct - areas hardest hit are bouncing back.
Edward, There are parts of the country that weren't adversely affected by the crazy market we had over the past several years.
Caren, That's great to hear that your area is seeing some economic gains. We are seeing gains here too.
Mary, You area is one of the recovering areas too - Colorado. We are a bit further North, in Central Florida, however we have felt the effects of a rebounding market, nonetheless.
Sandy, I guess from bottoming out it makes sense that South Florida should be one of the comback kids.
Sandy, California always determines how we fail or recover here on the west coast. Oh well Bremerton is just 40 miles north of me!
Sandy - It seems like some of the hardest hit areas, are among the first to recover. California and Florida being among those.
Sandy, It's an interesting list and I'm not at all surprised to see CA either...I didn't think NY would make it :(
Gary, Agreed, Florida's market plummeted, and people stopped buying, thus we wound up with an overabundance of inventory on the market. So it makes sense that sales are up over previous years.
Hi Paul, Well that's certainly good news for your area, as well as ours.
Myrl, Yes, it does. Seems par for the course.
Hi Carole, I'm not surprised to see California and Florida on the list. I was also looking for Arizona on that list.
Hey SS,
great info!! I need to get me to one of those more popular areas and make some money!!
