Brevard County Florida vehicle registration fees are going up by as much as 50% and more on Monday, August 31 at midnight.
The county is raising fees in hopes of whittling down the state's $7 billion budget deficit.
The increases that will take effect will be driver's license renewals, annual vehicle registration fees, license tags and titles. Car registrations will increase from $100 to $225.
Car registrations can be renewed on Monday at the normal rates if they expire before December 1. Drivers have the option of renewing for 2 years at the current price. A driver's license can be renewed at today's rates if it expires in the next 18 months.
To avoid long lines on Monday you can visit the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles Website and do your renewals there.

Sandy,
Unbelievable!!! Do they think we are made of money...
Ann
My secretary was trying to renew hers online Friday and the website was down supposedly for several days. Seems like the State is trying to avoid allowing people to get the cheaper rate.
Hi Sandy
That's big jump in the fees in Florida.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Sandy, you are alert with this savings tip if everyone will heed it soon enough!! I agree with Lou, that is a big percentage increase...
Sandy, We voted in $30 license tabs several years ago and the government has found a way to raise them every year =(
You gotta love Sunday,
Paul
Hi Ann, Well they are justifying the increase by saying that the rates haven't changed in years. So they I guess they are adding all the years together and hammering the public.
Hi Rob, I tried to renew mine yesterday and found that the system was also down. Interesting.
Hi Lou, This is a sizable jump in fees in Florida. You're not kidding.
Gary, I wonder how long the lines will be on Monday, as we are hearing and seeing that the website to renew has been down.
Paul, It seems that everything just keeps going up and up and up.
Sandy,
Why would the price need to be increased?
Ann
Hi Ann, I am hearing that the price of nearly everything is increasing throughout the state.
