Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman?
No, actually I think it's a bug that landed on my lens while I was taking the picture.
This was a successful mission. This rocket can be flown with or without people in it.
This test launch will allow NASA to determine if this rocket design will later replace the space shuttle.
Here's the full story with an incredible video of the launch.
These pictures were all taken in the driveway of my home. We are approximately 35-40 minutes from the Kennedy Space Center.
I take pictures as I enjoy sharing them with others. If you would like to use one of my photos, please ask, I am usually happy to oblige, however I would like to receive mention of having taken the picture.

that for you

I used to live at Patrick AFB just south of the Cape in the early 70's and watched the Apollo moon shots from the beach. They were especially spectacular when they went up at night.
Love the bug.
Hi Sandy - I saw the launch and took some photos as well. I'm glad it finally went off without any more errant cargo ships in the way.
Sandy:
Glad to hear the news that if finally went. We need something like that can follow up stories to get the people talking about something otherthan economic news. This might just get companies off the dime to invest more in space exploration, and give the general economy a shot in the arm.
I now this sound weak, but I know it it can.
Fantastic blue skies for the launch today Sandy! LOL about the bug, I actually thought for a moment it was on my computer screen!
I was hoping you'd get these shots for us Sandy =)
I hope you are having an incredible week,
Paul
Sandy, I heard about this on the radio after the first delay. I was in Brevard County just this last weekend and saw recently the last nighttime shuttle launch. Good luck with the Aries, it seems it is more about the funding than the technology these days.
Sandy,
I think it is an alien in the photo!

Sandy - Those are certainly impressive looking shots! I'm glad you were able to capture it in pictures!
Great follow up from the earlier scrub. Beautiful blue sky. If you look close at the bug it has an outline like the Wicked Witch of the West. Happy Halloween! Thanks Sandy!
Sandy, I loved the photos! How cool that you could shoot them. I was running out the door this morning and didn't even stop to think about this. Thank you for sharing.
Sandy, very cool pictures!! I wish I had the ability to fly like that.
Wow Sandy, you got some fantastic shots of the launch! What beautiful blue skies to back drop it!
