Sam Shores had a 97 lb. bench press.
Shores had a 195 lb. deadlift.
There will be a R.A.W. United Powerlifting meet coming up on December 5 and 6 that will be held at West Shore Junior Senior High School in Melbourne Florida. Lifters will be competing from across the country. It is estimated that there will be about 75-85 competitors in this meet.

that for you

Great to see excellent form while lifting. Push / Pull used to be a favorite training technique many years ago. Thanks for the input Sandy.
I sure appreciate the dedication of your daughter. I also like the updates Sandy!
Your friend in Washington State,
Paul
Sam sure is a strong one Sandy. Don't mess with her ; )
Sandy
I wish Sam the best and success at the event.
Good luck and success.

Sandy - When I hear of Sam's weighlifting capabilities, I am amazed. I'm lucky if I can pick up a 60 pound grandkid:-) Good luck to Sam during this event. Somehow, I know she will do well!
Wow, Sandy, I'm impressed! It's wonderful to see young people working out and fit...and you know they can take care of themselves!
Hi Sandy, I am so impressed with Sam and the training and determination to do what she does so well. and somedays I think my brief case is too heavy! HAHA!
Sandy,
Congrats to Sam... Way to go! I am with Mary...some days the computer is just too much!
Ann
Kevin, Sam's coach was just telling her 2 nights ago at practice that he would love her to be the "model" to new lifters for her great form on the bench and deadlift. Did you used to lift? You must have some experience in your past.
Paul, Thanks for always being there to check in on Sam. She enjoys the sport and has become quite good at it. We are very proud of her.
Hi Lou, Thanks, I appreciate. I'm sure she will do well.
Myrl, I'm with you. After one of the recent meets I was trying to help clean up the gym. I went to move one of the weight bars and I couldn't even budge it. Sam had to step in and pick it up for me. I don't know how she does it.
Gary, I try to steer clear of Sam every chance I get. LOL But, I'll tell you what, some of the boys are afraid of her, and the boys in her weight lifting class at school go to her for advice in lifting.
Carole, My other daughter Stephanie has just joined the gym where Sam lifts. The coach is trying to get her to compete, but I think she's happy just working out and staying in shape.
Mary, Sam is very competitive. She's a worker, that's for sure. She loves lifting. I know what you mean about the heavy briefcase... I feel your pain. So true. We must be getting old.
Ann, I know what you mean. Sometimes it's all too much. I'm with you and Mary!
Oompa, Sam must have some nice tanks on her arms. Tell her congrats! And of course congrats to the proud Mother!!
Hi Toto, She's pretty strong. When she hugs me, she about squashes me. I have to remind her to not squeeze so tight.
Sandy,
OLD?? WHAT??? You are not old!
Ann Hayden in Wildwood, MO
This reminds me I need to get back in the gym and do some weight training. No competitions for me though!
Sorry, I meant to post that comment on the train blog--woops! My chiropractor told me strength is hereditary so all that weighlifting ability came from the good old family tree!
Sandy, I was an athlete in another life that seems eons ago. When it comes to weight training, body alignment & proper form are imperative. Sounds like you've got a knowledgable coach there.
Hi Ann, Old, did you just call me old? HAHAHAHAHA Mary's briefcase comment made me laugh. When I try to pick up the weights that Sam lifts I can't even budge them. She is soooooo strong. Let's just say we're getting older than we were, okay?
Ann, I hear you. No competition for me either, although Sam's coach has lifters from 11 to 75 years old. He says you're never too old to lift. Weight train is great for the body. You go girl!
Monika, Strength is hereditary...really? I didn't know that. Hmmmm, now you've got me really thinking of where she got all that strength from. I'll get back to you when I get it figured out.
Kevin, An athlete in another life, eons ago? Have you ever lifted before? When? Competitively? Now you've got me real curious. You seem to know alot about lifting yourself. You've got to tell me....
No competitive lifting for me. It's all for the "fun" of it. I have trained many others on proper technique so that they may remain relatively injury free.
Sandy,
Hmmm...I am into having anniversaries instead of birthdays... It makes me feel better!

Hi Kevin, See, I knew it. I bet you've trained on proper technique. You should come up to our area for a meet sometime. There is a National Meet in Melbourne on December 5 and 6. We are expecting 75-85 lifters from across the country at this one. We'd love to see you there.
Hi Ann, Now that sounds like a really great idea. I'll have to try it. So how old are you then, 29 and holding?
Sandy,
I am 21 and holding.... My one son thought I was 21 for LONG time...
Ann
