While we were enjoying our time off over the holiday we knew we had to keep with tradition, so it was time to decorate a gingerbread house.
Now, I can't help but wonder why the pictures on the side of the gingerbread boxes are always so beautiful.
My girls, Stef and Sam and my sister, Jean and I each took one side of the gingerbread house and diligently went to work. We started out trying to be as neat as we could. The frosting started oozing out of both sides of the baker's tube and before long, we had frosting all over the place and all over ourselves.
We had the ugliest gingerbread house we have ever seen.
And, we had the most wonderful time ever!
We laughed our heads off, as we wiped the icing off the walls.

Sandy: I think you are being much too harsh on yourself, your sister and your girls. AND... if I had been doing the same decorating with MY girls and sister... if I had them... I would be just THRILLED to be spending time with them. Which means, of course, that whatever we did would have turned out just beautiful... at least to my eyes. Hey... do you get to eat the gingerbread house now ?
Sandy, no fair. I'm not a fan of gumdrops so that's why I haven't built more gingerbread houses in my life, but yours has "Skittles" I think. It's skittledelicious!
I'd still eat it :-)
Sandy
Someone had a great time in making the gingerbread house and that's what counts.
Good luck and success.

Some of the worst looking food ends up being some of the best tasting.

Those gumdrops are making me very hungry Sandy. Quite the delectable look!!
Well, looks are not everything...How does it taste?
Sandy,
I think it looks very nice.... Just needs a little updating and maybe some new carpet...

Sandy, your post cracked me up, and Ann's comment is hilarious! I think it's beautiful, only because I can almost hear you all laughing and enjoying each others company :-) and That's beautiful!
Sandy, I'll bet you had a blast doing that...I would love to make one and wouldn't worry about how it came out. Over here it would be eaten pretty quickly anyway :)
If you had fun, laughed and smiled, that Gingerbread house did the trick, Its not ugly...
Fill your life with smiles,
Paul
Sandy, the laughing and smiling with your daughters and sister are what made the effort worth while and I thought it still looked pretty tasty!! MMMMMMMM good! Memories made=quality time!
Sandy, I would have ate half of the house trying to decorate it! Happy New Year!
I've always wanted to make one but figured I'll do it with my grandkids one day. What fun you had! And I'm sure it tasted yummy.
