What a great photo!  And yes, I would definitely wait before pulling in the driveway - 'cause I'd be searching for my camera!

Don't you just love the sand hill cranes? I think they know they are protected and walk right across the road. We have many here. Love to see the parents with their young too.

Sandy, they're fun to see but yes, they just saunter at their own leisurely pace.  I learned long ago not to try and rush them along when the kids are with them, they're too darn protective!

What a great shot.  I guess they're not afraid of people.  It looks like you got pretty close!

What a nice surprise on returning home! I can't remember any animals ever greeting me in my front yard.

Very cool!  The only wildlife I usually see in my driveway are squirrels and mourning doves ... and the occasional neighbor's cat :-)  Nice capture!

Sandy - That is an amazing looking bird!  I don't recall ever seeing a Sand Crane before!  They look like they could belong to the Heron family!  Florida really does have some exotic looking wildlife.  I'm making my first trip to your state next month.  I have a close friend in Sarasota.  We are going down to Key West for a few days.

Sandy, I had to read the comments to see what this beautiful bird was!  I think it's such a nice thing to come home to!

Nancy, I'm with you. I was tickled to grab this shot of this beautiful crane sauntering through a local neighborhood.

Dick and Dixie, Yes, they are gorgeous and this one was no exception. He was just taking his leisurely time. It seems that we have been seeing alot of these around here lately.

Kevin, So true. You don't want to mess with these mommas when they are with their young. We just stopped and watched this one for a while - what  a treat.

Yvette and Dennis, This one didn't seem to be bothered by us being close at all. It was great.

Charles, He certainly did.  And he wasn't going anywhere quickly.

Sandy, there's nothing quite like shooting a really great bird photo.  This fellow is just beautiful!

Mary, Thanks - this is one of the reasons I carry my camera with my everywhere I go.  To catch moments like this one.

John, This would be a nice surprise in returning home.  Often my dog greets me in my front yard when my husband is home, but not a handsome guy like this one.

Glenda, We don't have too much wildlife in our front yard either, except the neighborhood kids-LOL.

Myrl, Well I hope that you enjoy your stay in Florida, You are going to LOVE the keys - it is so beautiful down there.

Gary, It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood -so true.

Irene, Yes, I do love it - I love to catch those candid shots.

Carole, This guy is beautiful and they are so graceful with their long legs.

Paul, We see many bird crossing signs in our area now, as we see families of these guys crossing busy streets.

Hi TOTO, The family is doing fine - thank you!  Happy New Year to you!

Patricia, This one was really neat.  Thanks.
