The weather is getting warmer and Spring is right around the corner. It's my favorite time of year. The bees are buzzing and the birds are chirping.
This weekend we get to Spring forward by turning our clocks ahead one hour. We get an extra hour outside in the evenings to do the things we enjoy. It gives us more time to see properties while it's still light out. And, it gives us an extra hour of daylight to get outside to take in that regular exercise.
The weather is warm, but not too hot, and the humidity is relatively low. So, it's not sticky outside. There's usually a warm breeze in the air.
Since we had an unusually cold winter here, it's time to get out into the yards and cut back some of those plants. Some didn't make it through the freeze. Others can be trimmed back to the green on them. For those that are brown, try to peel a portion of the bark back to determine if the plant is still green underneath. If it is, clip it back a bit.
It's time to fertilize the lawn and to plant those new flowers.
So head outside, and get that much needed daily Vitamin D from the sun. 20 minutes a day is all it takes to boost your energy and your mood.

It's getting better here as well. The furnace has not come on in the house and that is a good thing.
Hey, another Michigander here! Hi! And looking forward to spring!
Hard to believe it's time to Spring forward already Sandy! Spring must be right around the corner :-)
Robert Well that's good news coming from Michigan that the heat hasn't clicked on. It must be getting warmer there.
Hi Keith, I think after the crazy winter we've had this year ( the coldest one I can remember) many people are like us, ready for some nice warm weather.
Hey Mary, Funny, I was thinking the same thing. When I heard that we turn our clocks ahead this weekend, I couldn't believe it!
OH NO-it is this weekend? I need that hour of sleep!
Sandy, Vitamin D, we just used to call it "bennies", beneficial rays of the sun. It's amazing but the tactic I use to chase the blues is close my eyes and stand facing the Sun, just 5 minutes will change your attitude.
Sandy, we are getting some much needed sunshine up here in NE Ohio! It is too early to plant the flowers, but I can plan for them. I am seeing the tulips and daffodils popping through the soil and I saw my first crocus today!! The temps are balmy compared to what we had a couple of weeks ago!! The snow is about all gone, but the lake is still a mushy ice covering! Soon it will be gone too! Enjoy your flowers and I will just dream for now!
Hi Gary, Yes, this is a short weekend for us - we lose that hour - so true. So you've got to get all the things that you want to accomplished, done quickly. LOL
Debra, Uh-oh, you, my dear, better go to bed an extra hour early so you don't miss out on that shut eye.
Hi Kevin,Great suggestion. Wow, you've found that only 5 minutes can make a difference. I'm going to have to try that.I make it a point to try and get outside everyday and sit or stand facing the sun for at least 15-20 minutes. You're right it boosts the mood and the energy level tremendously.
Caren, That's great news that the snow is off the ground (finally, huh?). I know so many people that just got tired of the cold, cold winter this year. Sounds like it will be time to get to planting up your way real soon. I love the springtime - it's so beautiful and everything begins to bloom.
Sandy, Even though I read a reminder, I forgot it was this weekend! I love those longer days and just love when we finally Spring Ahead! Thank you!!
Sandy, I am looking forward to flowers. I am not looking forward to my frizzy hair with humidity!
It was a cold Winter indeed. My wife has been buying every plant in the community I think.
Sandy
Thanks for the update.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Yep, back to making us wake even earlier. I think it's a conspiracy! :-)
Carole, I also love the longer days that Spring gives us. I am really looking forward to it.
Wendy, You crack me up - I love the beautiful colors in all the Spring flowers. Funny, but with the rain yesterday, being out, showing properties in the pouring rain, my hair looked like I put my finger in a light socket. It was terrible!
John, So your wife loves flowers. I bet your yard is going to look incredible when your wife is finished. It's such a wonderful time to be outside.
Lou, Spring brings with it so much beautiful weather.
Gabe, Oh, not a morning person, huh? Me neither. I think that early mornings should be illegal!
Sandy - I am definitely a lover of Daylight Saving Time. I know some folks don't understand why we do it. And if offices and businesses didn't close there doors after dark in the winter time, I wouldn't mind either! I enjoy having a couple of hours of daytime at the end of the work day.
I LOVE daylight savings time! You can get out and garden longer before the mosquitoes bite you, you can do so many more outdoor activities. It is a great fit for me:) Katerina
Sandy,
Isn't this the greatest time to be living in Florida? Nice post. Enjoy this fabulous weather. :)
Steve
Myrl, I'm with you, I just love this time of year. It gives us additional time at the end of the day to get outside and get things done. It's so much easier at this time of year to show houses to buyers, also...we're not out in the dark any longer.
Katerina, It is a beautiful time of year. And at the end of a workday you don't feel as if time is gone and all you've got is darkness. The weather is perfect at this time of year.
Steve, It's the perfect time to live in Florida, there's no question about it.
Sandy,
Those are beautiful! And congrats on the 300,000 points!
