Recently, I was out with buyers, looking at houses in Titusville FL. At this house the owner's father met us at the property to unlock the door and let us in. He was gracious and stayed outside while we took our tour of this old colonial style property. The house was free of furnishings and had many rooms.
As we climbed the stairs to the second floor, we were chatting about the property. When we rounded the corner, this guy scared the begeebers out of us. We thought we were touring a vacant house. So, it came as a total surprise when we happened upon this creepy looking guard hovering to protect his property, with a skull head served up on his platter. After our initial shock, we couldn't stop laughing.
What a great presence staring out the window of this 2 story beauty to scare strangers away!

well Halloween is just around the corner too lol
I guess that is better than a real person but still I would have been freaked out!
Very funny and I'll bet he's effective too. If it works to put up an owl for the birds why not a guard for the house ;-)
Oh my! I think I would have ran out screaming myself....!

Sandy, That guy would deter anyone from entering! He looks so real!
OMG.
I think I would have had a heart attack!
Sandy, I wonder whether the owner's father was outside chuckling to himself! :-)
Hi Sandy~ I would have been scared silly too! But, it is almost halloween so it is perfect for that!
The House Butler. My friends had one of these but nicer looking, and it was right off their grand staircase. I forgot what his name was....but he was cool!
I once showed an empty house with a casket in the basement. It was empty but sure scared me at first! Buyer just laughed
I would have had a heart stopping moment!
Featured in the Group "Whacked!!!"
Sandy, BETTER than a scarecrow out in a field.
Sandy
That would stop you and your customers in their tracks in a heart beat or stop your heart.
Good luck and success.

Sandy that is funny indeed. All of us need to be careful after the killing of two real estate agents in Ohio last week.
Sandy, I’ll bet that did scare the begeebers out of you. Just thinking about it makes me laugh. Laughter is what follows having the begeebers scared out of us ...
Sandy, that would scare me also. I don't know if it's such a great idea for selling a home! But, it will be memorable.
Oh that is too funny Sandy, and I know the feeling. Once opening up a home for showing in the evening two larger than life statues of Dobermans greeted me. Flight or fight, the adrenaline was pumping! I'm so glad I didn't kick or throw a punch at those bronze pups.
Marilyn, This guy is all ready for Halloween. He's a spooky one!
Alia, The house was vacant, so we didn't expect to see anything or anyone in it - I think I jumped about 5 feet.
John, Funny, we didn't see him when we walked up to the house. But, then we weren't looking up either.
Sharon, After the initial shock we were laughing so hard, And then I realized I didn't have my camera. So we had to use my buyer's cell phone camera.
That guy is creepy looking I guess this guy is ready for Halloween, but I think it would be an effective method to keep people out.
Great story!!
Wanda, That was struck me first, was that at first I thought it was a real person - so it really scared me, because I don't know many people that look like that.
Ralph, Yes, you and me both - it certainly took us by surprise - and we had to catch our breath.
Silvia, It's so funny that you say that, because I think that the owners father was probably laughing his head off! He certainly gave us no forewarning about the upstairs guest. I bet he thought it was hysterical.
Vickie, This guy is dressed and all ready for Halloween - that's for sure. No treats will be given from this empty house, but he may scare some trick or treaters.
Michael, Ahhh, okay the House Butler - he certainly is a butler of a different sort! Let me know if you figure out what his name is. I think it's probably something like Igor, or Frankie - lol.
Janice, Now that sounds really very creepy - a casket in a house - I bet that really made you step back several paces. What was he doing with a coffin in his basement? Kind of strange.
Richard, Thanks for the feature! I think we all lost a breathe and skipped a couple of heart beats when we rounded the staircase and found this guy.
Gary, I haven't run across one of those lately. I'll let you know when I do - lol.
Lou, Oh this guy surely did stop us in our tracks. We hesitated for a aplit second because as Wanda mentioned it looked so real.
John, Great reminder - we all must be so careful because there are vagrants and others in empty houses preying on unsuspecting agents. It's scary.
Kathleen, I really dislike it when I get the begeebers scared out of me. But we did laugh afterwards. It was too funny.
Gabe, I don't know if it was a good selling feature either - my buyers opted for a different property. I suppose it could turn some people off.
Kevin, Now that would be very scary -seeing 2 lifelife Doberman statues inside the door - and you don't know right away if they're real or not. That's no laughing matter. But it would have been very very bad if you had kicked or punched those glass statues - can you imagine the mess, and explaining to the owner? Lol
Yolanda, I think this guy could definitely deter some people from entering this home. I think he should have been downstairs right by the front door window. He was a bit hard to see looking out the upstairs window.
Evelyn, Thanks, it was one I'll remember.
Oh my! Was this for Halloween only! I would, too, have had a heart attack!!!
Sandy, that would have shocked me too. I wrote a blog called "I have a secret..." It is about homes with secrets and has a twist. See if you like it.
Sandy, I've seen this before, but it would scare me in a vacant house too. Wonder why they didn't take it with them.
Sandy - That's funny! Did you poke him to see if he moved? Maybe the homeowner couldn't find a pumpkin :-)
Now see that guy in that picture! I need him to get a license to performa wedding on Halloween. He can do it on-line through the Universal Life Church. I know someone getting married in a haunted mansion, and we are all going dressed in costume. We've been looking for Lurch in the Adams Family to act as the minister:-)
Well, did they buy the house after all that?
That's funny, but why did they have that in a vacant space?
I assume everyone ran like heck That's what i would have done.
That would have scared me to death then had me rolling on the floor laughing!
Sandy, That was a good one. I have had more than one occasion where it is obvious that 'vacant' properties haven't been. Found a cat one day with fresh water, food and an inside locked door and a broken window. Didn't stay long enough to see who might show up. Also, called the listing agent.....professionalism, safety and respect for my business associates.
Wendy, I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw this guy - after the initial shock of my heart stopping, it was pretty funny,
Ellen, This guy was definitely a secret - because the owner's son did not tell us he was upstairs.
Elyse, Good question. Perhaps that though that his presence would ward off intruders, who knows? I think it was scaring the buyers off.
Hey John, No I didn't touch him. I didn't want him to jump at me. Maybe you're right they couldn't find a pumpkin.
Myrl, That's too funny - are you serious? That this bride and groom will be getting married in a haunted house? What will you be dressing as? Wow, what a night for you to remember - it's sounds so spooky.
Beth, No, they did not buy that house. They chose another property.
Tori, Maybe to scare all of us half to death - I don't know - but it sure scared me!
Robert, We were right at the top of the stairs. And there was quite a bit of backstepping from all of us. Thank goodness no one fell down the stairs. This guy looked so real.
Kristyn, That's pretty much where we were with it. Half scared to death and then dying laughing. It was a hoot.
Ken, I suppose the biggest concern today in entering a "vacant" house is whether it really is vacant or not. I've started into a house where vagrants had moved in, but I could tell just as I was going up the walk that something wasn't quite right.
OK Sandy. Now you've got me curious! Care to share the address so I can drive by one evening this weekend to see if it is all lit up! ;-)
