I recently read an online article that today, there is a 500% more chance that a home will be seen on the internet versus print advertising.
Over 80% of home buyers are beginning their search on the internet. They are searching for 2 to 3 weeks before contacting an agent. 88% are interested in a property they see online. And 78% of Real Estate agents are finding their buyers online.
So, happy blogging!

that for you

Hi Doris,
I found the information quite interesting.
I read the first statistic in an online magazine.
I jotted down the rest of the information at a Real Estate seminar last week. It was sponsored by a Web Site building company that is an affiliate member of our local Board of Realtors.
Best wishes!
Yes these are great statistics. I advertise heavily on the internet via Realtor.com, Trulia, and Home Gain. I would rather invest my ad dollars there than in local print media. I do, however, still advertise my open houses in the Sunday paper. But that's about it. Statistics are great for listing presentations as well and can help justify how you advertise a client's home. Many people, older people in particular, are still used to print ads and don't place a lot of confidence in online ads. Stats really help to convince them. Best of luck to you.
Jolynna,
I have to agree with you on older people still enjoying print ads. My father is 73 years old, has never used a computer in his life, and never wants to! So, I suppose as you mentioned we should remember to cater to our retirees.
Best wishes to you!
Sandy - The majority of our leads come from our website and our postings on realtor.com, trulia, etc. 75-80% come from our own website because it comes up in the top few spots in all the search engines for our area. However, we advertise in the local homes and land magazine, also, and we get calls from every issue on our listings. There are still a lot of people out there who are just not comfortable searching for real estate online - it does take a basic level of computer and internet skill.
Got to be online! May you find great success!

We can track many of our sales to the marketing that we specifically have on the Internet. We will normally produce a video for each of our listings. A couple years ago a buyer (who we had not met) came up to us and stated "You're world famous". Not knowing exactly made us world famous again, we just stated "As it should be". He had sent links to the video of his new home to friend around the world. It was great seeing how much traffic was generated.
I think it depends on your area & who your clientele are. The only way to know where the buyers come from is to test test test, In my area we have a strong ethnic community that does not use the internet they are more apt to use a real estate book
today I worked with 2 buyers - both internet leads.
