The Home Builders and Contractors Associatiion of Brevard has indicated that housing permits were up in April 2008. April had the highest number of permits issued this year. There were 162 new permits in April, compared to 102 in March, 81 in February and 96 in January. 144 of these permits were for single family homes. 18 were fro multi family property. These housing permits were issued in Melbourne, Viera, Palm Bay, Rockledge and West Melbourne.
Housing permits numbers are still below figures at this same time last year.
We are hearing that builders are slowly beginning to build spec homes (homes built in the hopes that a buyer will soon become interested in them).
Is this a sign that the market is stabilizing? Some people think so.
Many foreign buyers are coming to Brevard, and purchasing homes, due to the favorable exchange rates. Many buyers from the United Kingdom and Canada are flocking to Florida.
