I just came back from an appointment with a tenant moving into one of our rental houses. I was happy to get a new tenant, that I think I'll get along quite well with. She told me that she has seen For Rent signs all over town. We have still seen an overabundance of houses for rent in our area of Melbourne Florida, right now.
I am still watching gas prices daily, and look what I found just 2 minutes down the street from me...I was tickled...
Now this is the cheapest gas I have found, to date. So, I pulled in, and look what else I found...
So, I went around the other side of the pumps...AND THE STATION WAS COMPLETELY SOLD OUT! That shouldn't have been a surprise to me.
Just 9 days ago, this was the cheapest price I could find here in South Brevard County...
So, how much further do you think gas prices will fall?
I know that oil prices have dropped, but don't tell me no one has any control of where the gas prices currently are and where they can go and for how long...
I'm betting that in the next week they will be lower than $2.55 a gallon here in Brevard County Florida!
What do you think? And what do prices look like in your area?

that for you

I read on another blog that gas is below $2.10 in the midwest - can't remember the state, but it's probably one with state tax. It could go back to around $2.00 or less!
I read the same thing.....Lets hope it lasts.
prices have dropped down to under $2.50/gallon here - hope it keeps dropping.
I hope it hits Idaho soon. We are still at $3.16 a gallon. Under $3 would be nice.
I love seeing the gas prices dropping! Last time I noticed during the week, we were at $2.66 a gallon!
I would love to see it keep dropping. Who knows what will happen, you never can predict these things. I know OPEC cut their production, so we will see.
Oh my gosh, Sharon, I hadn't heard that it was $2.10. WOW! And below, $2.00 a gallon, that would be incredible. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Christina, Let's see how long it really does last...it will be very interesting...take care!
Sandy -
You'e got a Great Name for selling Real Estate in FL, BTW.
Prices have gone down precipitously here within the last few weeks, but they are still far higher than where you folks are. Regular is currently around $3.25 in the City of Chicago, about $3.15/gallon in the suburbs, with their lower tax structure.
I would like to think the recent drops have little to do with the election - do you think the Good Ole' GOP is manipulating them somehow to influence the voting? Pretty far fetched, I would think.
As more and more stations lower their prices, the playing field will be comparatively level, and temporary outages should disappear - I would think.
One final point - there was a time, not that long ago - when $2.66 for a gallon of gas was considered OUTRAGEOUS, not a BARGAIN! Just comparison level, I guess!
My two cents, anyway!
DEAN & DEAN'S TEAM CHICAGO
Hi Gene, Below $2.50 - that's great. Am looking forward to seeing that here, but then when will it start heading back up again?
Sandy, Still over $3.00 a gallon, OUCH! I feel bad for you - that's no good! Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully you'll see the same drops we're seeing.
Hi Vickie, $2.66 a gallon is great! Isn't it funny how our perspective changes so much over time? Who would have thought we would have enjoyed gas at over $2.50 a gallon? It's just crazy!
Hi Carol. I am curious to ee how the production cut will affect prices and supply. Will it make a difference? And for what period of time?
Hi Vickie, Wow, the variation in your area is a 5 cent difference in a week. Here we have seen a 38 cent difference in just over a week. Interesting. Thanks for sharing and hope you are well!
Hi Dean, Wow, gas is still high in your area, as you mentioned. It will be interesting to see how long prices will go down and how far they go...and will they continue the decline after the election? You know I have never seen an outage under normal circumstances...last one was a couple of months ago with the hurricanes heading to the Gulf States...a concern over the oil rigs in the Gulf ...so many areas of the south were short and rationing. I also agree, who would have ever thought that $2.66 was a great deal for gas? How our perceptions change! Take care of yourself!
No windfall profits tax that will effect anything. Now you will have to worry about production dropping and the refining margins getting squeezed for thos refiners who do not produce. We still have to get away from oil as a fuel that we have to import. Its all about demand? Its was $2.45 when I filled up.
In Minneapolis, today prices went from $2.33 yesterday to $2.23 a gallon today. Love the prices, but I do still remember that those $1.75 a gallon prices were not THAT long ago! Have a great week!
I was so excited to see $2.35 at the station down the street from my house. If it goes below $2.00 I'm going to dance a jig! I just hope it lasts!
Hi Eric, I suppose we'll have to wait and see how the drop in production will affect us all. Supply and demand...that's the name of the game. Under $2.50, lucky for you. Will be interesting to see how far down it's heading...
Hi Loren, In some areas it's dropping faster than in others. I agree, I remember when gas hovered around $1.00 a gallon, way back when...but everything is relative to the time it's taking place, too, salaries, etc, follow suit...
Hi Alisha, Well, I for one can't wait for gas prices to go below $2.00 a gallon in your area so that I can see you dance a jig...promise that you'll have someone videotape it, so we can see it here on Active Rain (LOL). Thanks for the laugh!
Hopefully keep going down!
Kevin
I just filled up yesterday for under $30. Gas is $2.13 right now in Kansas City if the price drops continue gas will be $2.10 by tommorow and under $2.00 by Friday. Makes me wonder what is really going on.
Hi Kevin, I'm with you...if they keep going down...that will be just perfect!
Hi Justin, Wow, I'll have to head to your neck of the woods. $2.13 that unbelievable! It does make you wonder what is really going on...time will tell, won't it? Thanks for sharing!
I saw 2.69 yesterday and that enough could cause accidents! My favorite gas station is just a smidge above three and my gas tank is at 1/2. I am sure they will catch up before I need gas :)
Technically, at this price for a bbl of oil, it should be between 2 and 2.25. I just knew this would happen prior to the elections. It did the last three :)
Hi Renee, Well, I hope that your favorite station gets down before you need to fill it up. It will be interesting to see what happens with the prices after the election. Take care!
Last Tuesday I paid $2.65, and yesterday Jim paid $2.46. Nineteen cents difference in five days is huge! We'll be under two dollars before we know it! YAY!
Hi Jim and Maria, 19 cents is an amazing difference in 5 days. For us we dropped by 38 cents in 9 days...that's incredible. How long will it last though? Thanks for sharing!
Sandy,
I promise, I'll get my jig on video and post it for all of AR to see. You can always use a good laugh!
~A:)
Hi Alisha, I absolutely can't wait to see your $2.00 a gallon gasoline jig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love a good laugh too!
Sandy,
WOW! What a huge price drop in 9 days...
We are at 2.49.
Ann
Hey Ann, Happy Sunday! Are you enjoying your weekend and taking it easy? Wow, $2.49 that's cheap...let's see just how far it goes, before it stops going down and begins going back up!
Sandy,
I expect it to keep falling at least until the election..
Ann
Sandy, I just filled up tonight in southwest missouri for 1.93. We may have the lowest price fuel in the country..
Sandy and Jack,
It is 1.79 in Corpus Christi Texas! It might be time for a road trip.
Ann
Oh my gosh Ann! I can't believe it! I had heard this morning on the news that it was below $2 in the midwest, but never expected it to be that low! I think you're right - it is time for a road trip! Thanks for sharing. Have a great day and I'll talk to you soon!
Sandy,
Yes, it is quite a shock to me too.
Ann
Ann, They just keep getting lower, I am keeping my eyes open. This week I saw $2.50! Cheap for here!
Sandy,
$2.24 today!! I cannot believe it.
Ann
Wow Ann, that's great. Let's watch it keep going down!
Sandy,
Have you noticed it never goes down as fast as it went up.... Why is that?
Ann
Hi Ann, Yes, I have noticed that it never goes down as fast as it goes up. Interesting isn't it? Not surprising though!
Sandy,
$2.15 last night.
Ann

Good ole Oklahoma down to a 1.65....kind of nice not to have to shell out a 50 to fill up.
$1.99 in Southern Idaho. We finally are seeing them come down. Wow what a blessing
at the pumps. And business is picking up so it not so bad taking people around all
day to 4 different cities.
Sandy,
$1.64 a gallon here in Missouri.
Ann
$1.67 in Lubbock,TX
Hi Ann, Wow $1.64 in Missouri!
Hii Jeff and Lisa, $1.67 in Texas! That's great! Today I saw it for $1.88 here in Melbourne, Florida! I was tickled!
Hi Paul, Well it sounds like the gas all over is still cheaper then where I am here in Brevard County Florida. But, don't get me wrong, I'm really not complaining!
Sandy,
You are not going to believe this but I paid $1.49 a gallon today....
Ann
Hi Sandy - I just filled up this afternoon in Henderson NV for $2.03 a gallon. Very happy to see those prices after they were over $4.50 in the summer.
Hi Sandy-I filled up on Tuesday at $1.65 today they are $1.52 so tomorrow, I going back to re-fill up hopefully at $1.49. I think it will be very short lived......so keep the tanks FULL.
Ann, Oh my gosh, you're rright- I can't believe it! Incredible!
Hi John, It sounds like your prices there are in line with our prices here. A bit closer to the $2.00. But I'm also happy to see it. We never got up to $4.50 a gallon though!
Hi Dona, Around here is keeps dropping too. But, I am also curious to see how short lived it will be. I heard that it will only be until Spring. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
Sandy,
Yes, I am still in disbelief about it!
Ann
