I have been tagged in the Christmas MEME by Ann Hayden. I love Ann because she always stops by to read and comment on my blog. She makes me laugh and she presents new ideas and insights. I enjoy reading her blog and the interaction that we have.
Now Ann indicated that this must be something tangible that I really want. So I racked my brain on this one:
Now I have to say that this is a really difficult thing for me, because if I need something I typically go out and buy it if I can find it on sale somewhere. If I want something, I usually think about it for awhile. If I really, really don't need it, I don't buy it.
socks - nah - I have a drawer full - just need to take the time to find 2 that match
flat screen TV - nah - I never watch regular TV. Actually, I don't really get the whole big screen TV thing anyway. On Black Friday people were going nuts over them. I occasionally stick a movie in, but I NEVER watch TV during the week,
GPS - nah - I finally, after a year, price shopped them like crazy and broke down and bought one for myself. OH, it has made my real estate career soooo much easier - a realtor without a GPS is almost like a realtor that doesn't have a car!
a new bathroom scale - nah - someone in the family dropped something on mine and broke the plastic front off it. They never seem to work right anyway - they never show that I've lost that last 5 pounds that I can't ever seem to drop.
a new computer - nah - my sister visited over the summer and tried for 2 weeks to get mine to do all the things it would no longer do, so she got sick of it - and the day before she left - she and my Dad went and bought me a brand new system - I was absolutely floored! My life has been so much easier since! Thanks Jean and Dad!
Hmmm, what I really would absolutely LOVE to have more than anything in the whole world would be to take a weekend with my husband, Steve, my two daughters Stef and Sam and my dog, Bailey and go away somewhere, anywhere, I don't even care where - no phones, no instant messaging, no computers, no cares or worries of everyday life - just a weekend together laughing, hugging and enjoying each other. This Christmas we're going to take the time to do this. - whoops - reality check - it has to be something tangible, doesn't it?
Okay, I was cheating, wasn't I? (this is hard)
Okay, here it is, All I really, really want for Christmas is the movie, It's a Wonderful Life by Frank Capra, 1946, with Jimmy Stewart in it. I don't want the colorized version. I want the black and white one. I absolutely LOVE that movie! I think that there is such a message about life and living (or not) to all of us in that movie! I have watched it every year at Christmas for years. I usually go to the library and check out their old raggy VHS copy of it. They don't have it on disk. Every year I look for it on sale somewhere, and I can't find it. Okay, I'll admit it,..I'm cheap I don't want to pay over $10 for it.
So, that's what I want for Christmas.
So now, I am passing this MeMe along to:
Now the only rules that I know that are associated with this MeMe is that it must be something tangible. Have fun and thanks for being my friends here on Active Rain!
Okay, let me get gushy here for just a second...wouldn't it be nice if this Christmas, for a change we all focused on the NON tangible things in life, and forgot about all of the material things, just this once?
What a brighter place the world would be!

that for you

Peace on earth. Peaceful markets. Lower mortgage rates. Lender work outs. Buyer enthusiasm and a partridge in a pear tree...
Hi Michael, I noticed that your list is full of non tangible items. And so many good ones too. Agreed - thanks for sharing!
Ahh ~ A little bit of wishful thinking on your part "a Christmas not focused on the material things!" LOL! No really, that would be wonderful if our focus was about something, anything, other than what, how much, the latest, and so on! Maybe one day, right??
My favorite Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th St., the first one, also B&W with John Payne and Natalie Wood. But hearing a bell ring and thinking of an angel getting wings is good too.
Sandy, I hope you get your Christmas wish. The weekend away sounds awesome.
Terrie, I guess I'm dreaming, aren't I? It's not going to happen, is it? I think it would be wonderful to focus on the ones we love or something besides material things this Christmas. I hope that day comes soon!
Hey Fred, Oh, you hit the nail on the head, that is one of my favorites too. I also watch that one every year. Last year I finally found that one for a price that I wanted to pay and bought it. I have a stack of Christmea movies that I make sure to watch every year. They help get me 'in the spirit' of the season.
Hey Tanya, I am going to make sure to take the time and get the family on an outing together during their holiday break. I would love to just get away from it all. Thanks for stopping by!
Sandy,
Aww... You are so sweet. I am happy to have tagged you. I love that movie too. Makes you think how you do matter in the world even when you are down... Kind of like being here in the Rain!
This was a tough one for me too....
Merry Christmas!
Ann
Take the weekend and do something....rmember to be a good Realtor, you got to be a good woman first!
Hi Sandy ! Well, thanks for tagging me - - it is hard to come up with something - when what we really want is that special time with our family - I hope you get that! That's the best thing of all - (that's what I really want, too!!)
Hi Ann, I am also happy that you tagged me...thank you and thanks for being a great friend here on AR. I love that movie in sooooooooooo many ways.
Nancy, I would have to agree with you - I think as women we must in fact come first, in order to do well in our businesses - couldn't agree more. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you are well!
Hey Mary, It was a pleasure to tag you. Good luck in finding something that is tangible that you want - family time is really the best - to me! Have a great day!
Sandy,
I started watching the movie tonight. It is wonderful...
Ann
Hi Ann, You lucky lady, I haven't had time to sit down and watch it yet. I'm jealous! I have to make sure I have the time to watch the whole thing when I do. I'll let you know when I get a chance to do it.
Sandy,
I watched it in two parts... It was great as usual. One person can make a difference in so many people's lives.. Like you for instance.
Ann
Hi Ann, You make me want to cry. Thanks so much - that means soooooooooooo much to me. Thanks for always being here for me and soooooo supportive - you're so awesome!
Sandy,
Well, I hope they are tears of joy... Thank you for being here for me too. It is so nice to have good cyber friends...kindred spirits.
;-)
Ann
That's my favorite movie too! Every time a bell rings...
I'm like you Sandy, I would just love a weekend away with my husband and son! I always search for something that I really want-material-wise, and it always comes back to something that I can't buy. Funny.
Thanks for sharing...on a side note, I worked with Frank Capra III many years ago, it was his favorite movie too!
Hey Monica, WOW! There seem to be a handful of us that LOVE that movie! It tells such a wonderful story! Family time is the all time best - to me. I don't need anymore material things - I have enough already. Wow! So neat that you worked with Frank Capra III - what did you do - did he work in the film industry? So neat - thanks for sharing!
Sandy,
Yes, we both did! I worked in the film industry for 16 years, as did my mother, brother and father. Now my husband does and I live vicariously through him (even his father did)! It was great and I met a lot of actors, crew and saw a lot of country. I miss it, but I'm a mom now. I'm also a realtor! And I'm very proud of that!
You too, Happy, Successful New Year!
Hey Monica, Best of everything to you this year!
