So, Who Is Being Deceptive Now?

A friend of mine passed this story along. He said it was based on a true story. It made me chuckle.

A man was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.

The man opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were two guys in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked 'Is someone in your house?' and he said 'no.'  They said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available.

The man said, 'Okay,' hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. 'Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now, because I just shot them.' Then he hung up.

Within five minutes six police cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic and an ambulance showed up at the man’s residence and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the policemen said to the man, "I thought you said that you'd shot them."

The man said, "I thought you said that there was nobody available."

That's a very engaging story that is somewhat akin to reality. Having actually experienced something relatively close...yes, it's probably urban myth that is truly a reality.

That was good.  I was falling asleep.  Might be just what I needed to stay awake.

I'll have to remember this.  I often wonder what I would do if someone should break in. I'll just call 911 and tell them I've shot intruders. That is great!

Love it.  There is a point to this somewhere......in getting a buyer to your listing.  Think about it....

Very funny story.  If that were to happen in the morning when the call was made you could say I just returned from the donut shop and found someone in my back yard.

Hi Sandy - This is funny.  As citizens we do expect our enforcement agencies to respond immediately when we call; and in "real life" they do (at least in my area). Thanks for sharing your humor this morning.. :-))

Having been broken in to a few times, I can tell you the police definitely are more responsive when you tell them there are gunshots!
