We Become So Attached to these Furry Little Guys

A friend of ours called this morning to tell us the tragic news. Their golden retriever passed away yesterday, as he was hit by a car.  The family is absolutely heartbroken. This is another reminder of how much we love our pets and become attached to them.

Our pets become like a member of the family.  I know after the loss of our last dog, Nute, a doberman - great dane mix, it was 10 years before we decided to get another pet.

Having a dog is wonderful, as we become so accustomed to having them in our lives.

Everyday our dog, Bailey the Boxer brings a smile to my face.  He is a wonderful family pet, loving, supportive, friendly and protective at the same time.

Bailey can hear a cottage cheese container or a yogurt container open a mile away.

He loves them both. He loves to lick the bottom of the container, even though his stubby little nose hinders him a bit.

Bailey the Boxer

It's funny if you've never watched a boxer before, they use their paws just like cats do.  They hold things with their feet.

And you can see, he winds up with cottage cheese all over himself.  But, he will clean up every last bit of it.

My heart goes out to our friends that lost their beautiful family friend.

Sandy...my heartfelt sympathy to your friends in the loss of their companion.  I have sent two beloved pets to doggie heaven and it's never easy...nor do we ever forget them!  I now have an awesome Aussie and she is the joy of our lives!  Your Bailey is adorable and I understand how they can 'hear' food!  Thanks for sharing your sorrow and your beloved Bailey!

Being a person who has 3 dogs and 4 cats, I can totally relate.  We have a 23 year old cat and I'll be devastated when he passes.  We've been surprised that he's already lived this long and is still in such good shape. My heart goes out to your friends as well.

Sandy, thanks for posting such a sweet blog! I love my little Hannah (cocker spaniel 8 yrs old) and she is my baby and my joy. She make me laugh and smile. She is such a bed hog that you cannot help it.

Hi Terri, Oh we love our dog dearly and just wouldn't know what to do without him.

Reba, Wow, a 23 year old cat - that cat is alive today because you it is so well loved. I have never heard of a cat that old.  You are a wonderful pet owner - sounds like you love them.

Pat, It is so very sad to lose a furry friend. The heartache never goes away.

Sandy, Oh your cocker spaniel sounds like a sweetheart.  Bailey is a bed hog too - but he sleeps in my daughter's beds.

Hey Miss Mary,  It is devastating to lose a pet, a member of the family. We grow so fond ot them.

Rita,  It's so sad to hear of the loss of our friends pet.  Terrible for the family.  Bailey can literally hear food from a mile away.
